How to Make Herb Butter
Knowing how to make herb butter will allow you to put a twist on accompanying savoury toasts or brioche to main dishes. The following ‘how to’ shows you the basics in order for you to adapt as desired.
1- Soften the butter. It’s best to soften the butter very slowly, at room temperature or just above. You don’t want the butter to melt so be careful!
2- Add your herbs. If you’re going to be using fresh herbs, make sure that they are chopped up finely enough to be edible. Often dried herbs are better for this kind of recipe.
3- Transfer onto sheath. Transfer the softened butter and herb mixture to a sheet of aluminium foil or cling film.
4- Roll. Roll it into a sausage before twist the ends to secure tightly.
5- Refrigerate. Chill in the fridge until firm.
Try with many different types of herbs and spices.
Should you be using the butter to be spread on bread before grilling to accompany meat dishes (i.e. garlic bread), try adding a crumbled chicken stock cube to the mix
