How to Make Ice Cream From Bananas
Knowing how to make ice cream from bananas allows you to trick the senses and get a tastey treat from something which is comparatively healthier for you than normal ice cream. It’s very easy to make and can be extremely cheap. The following ‘how to’ shows you the foundation from which you can tweak to your liking.
Steps
1- Mash or blend the bananas. It is much easier to use a blender to get the desired consistency within a short period of time. Use as many or as few bananas as you like. The riper the better.
2- Whisk. Once as pureed as possible, whisk the mixture to encourage a lighter mix.
3- Sweeten. The mix itself should already be quite sweet, but you may wish to supplement with added honey to taste.
4- Add any other ingredients. This is where you can add different flavours to your ‘ice cream’. Add the ingredients into the mix but be sure to fold in (see ‘how to fold’) rather stir, as you want to keep the mixture as light as possible.
5- Freeze. Place in an airtight container and freeze. Depending on the volume of ice cream that you’ve created, this could take any time between 4 and 12 hours.
Tips
Bananas will continue to ripen even when frozen, just at a slower rate. This means that you will have to eat your ice cream with about 10 days of having made it (depends on how ripe your bananas were before you started).
