Steps

- Use their title and name. If a professional letter, use their proper title, otherwise, address the letter with their full name depending on how they like to be addressed. Use c/o if the person who is staying at the place that you’re sending to doesn’t usually reside there (if they’re staying at a hotel for example).

- Put the first line of their address underneath. What qualifies as the first line may be difficult to ascertain, however as long as the entire address is listed from top to bottom it should still get to its desired location. The company name would be between the recipient’s name or department (if you know it) and the first line of the address.

- Insert the street name. This should always be the second line.

- The local area should be on the next line i.e. the village/district/parish etc.

- Place the city or Island should be on the next line.

- Detail the state or county on the next line.

- State the country on the next line.

- Finally, put the postcode/zipcode/area code on the last line.

- Note, for a professional letter to a company, there may be a PO box number. This is usually placed under the company name.
