How to Cook Salmon Fillet
Knowing how to cook salmon fillets properly will ensure maximum return on your fishy investment. I’ll leave the flavouring and dressings up to your imagination, but this ‘how to’ will cover two methods to create spectacular dishes.
1- If frying, brush the fish with melted butter or oil.
2- Start cooking the fillet skin-side down. Heat a griddle pan or frying pan until hot, then lay the salmon fillets in, skin-side down.
3- Fry the fillet for 4-5 minutes on this side until the salmon starts to change colour in the middle.
4- Turn. Turn the fillets over for a further three minutes until the salmon is just cooked.
5- If grilling, brush both the pan and the fish with oil or melted butter.
6- Start cooking skin-side up. Place the fillet in the pan, skin side up.
7- Hot grill the filler. Cook under a very hot grill for four minutes on each side.
8- Check that the fillet is firm. Grill until the salmon is opaque and firm and serve immediately.
How you choose the dress the salmon is entirely up to you, but whatever you do, do not overpower the delicate taste!
